The Secretary-General of the United Nations presents his compliments to the Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations and has the honour to refer to his notes Nos. BTG/56/97 and BTG/57/97, both dated 18 December 1997, transmitting the instruments of accession by the Government of Mongolia to the following Conventions:

(i) Convention on Road Traffic, concluded at Vienna on 8 November 1968; and

(ii) Convention on Road Sings and Signals, concluded at Vienna on 8 November 1968.

The above instruments were deposited with the Secretary-General on 19 December 1997, the date of their receipt.

Due note has been taken of the signs selected by Mongolia under articles 45 (4) et 46 (2) of the Conventions.

In accordance with their articles 47 (2) and 39 (2), the above Conventions will enter into force for Mongolia twelve months after the date of deposit of the instruments, i.e. on 19 December 1998.

The Transport Division of the Economic Commission for Europe was immediately advised of the deposit. All States concerned are being informed accordingly.
