6. Use of sound and hazard warning signals
and of an emergency stop sign
6.1. A sound signal could be used only in the following cases:
а/ to prevent traffic accidents;
б/ to warn other drivers during overtaking on roads outside of built-up areas.
The sound signal does not give the right of way to pass and does not relieve from taking precautionary measures obligatory.
6.2. Hazard warning lamps are used in the following cases:
а/ when a vehicle stops because of a traffic accident;
б/ when a vehicle makes an compelled stop in a standing prohibited area;
в/ when a vehicle with not working (or without) position lamps stops on a section without a lighting when it is dark or there is an inadequate visibility;
г/ when the driver looses the driving orientation due to dazzling;
д/ when (a power-driven vehicle) is tugged by;
е/ in other cases when a vehicle may disturb safety.
6.3. The emergency stop sign is placed at a distance of not less than 15 m from the vehicle in case of a road in the built-up area and of not less 30 m from the vehicle in case of a road outside the built-up area in order to warn other drivers of the danger.
The emergency stop sign is used in the following cases:
а/ during stopping due to a traffic accident;
б/ when warning lamps of a vehicle compelled to stop in a standing prohibited area do not function (or do not exist) or the vehicle is not visible for other drivers of approaching vehicles;
в/ when a vehicle with not functioning (or not existing) position and warning lamps is stopped on a road section without lighting when it is dark or the visibility is inadequate;
г/ if warning lamps on a tugged power-driven vehicle does not function (or do not exist).
Remark: In this case, the emergency stop sign is placed on the outer side of the back of the tugged vehicle.
