ROAD SIGNS AND MARKINGS

 

II. Prohibitory signs

6.      The prohibitory signs establish certain limits for traffic as well as changes them too:

2.1 “No entry” - prohibits vehicles to move further than this sign;

2.2 “No vehicles” - prohibits vehicular traffic;

2.3 “No entry for power-driven vehicles”;

2.4 “No entry for goods vehicles” - the prohibition applies to goods vehicles with the permissible maximum mass of more than 3.5 ton (if the sign shows the permissible maximum mass, the more than that), tractors and self-propelled vehicles. This sign does not apply to goods vehicles equipped for transporting of passengers;

2.5 “No entry for motorcycles”;

2.6 “No entry for tractors” - the prohibition applies to all types of tractors and self-propelled vehicles;

2.7 “No entry for vehicles drawing a trailer” - the prohibition applies to goods vehicles or tractors drawing a trailer and vehicles drawing a power-driven vehicle;

2.8 “No entry for animal-drawn vehicles” - the prohibition applies to riding of animal-drawn vehicles and driving and leading of livestock;

 

2.9

2.9 “No entry for cycles” - the prohibition applies to cycles and mopeds;

2.10 “No entry for pedestrians”;

2.11 “Mass limit” - the prohibition applies to vehicles whose actual mass exceeds limits given by the signs;

2.12 “Axle load limit” - the prohibition applies to vehicles having a mass per any of axles exceeding limits given by the signs;

2.13 “Height limit” - the prohibition applies to vehicles having an overall laden or unladen height exceeding limits given by the signs;

2.14 “Width limit” - the prohibition applies to vehicles having an overall laden or unladen width exceeding limits given by the signs;

2.15 “Length limit” - the prohibition applies to combination of vehicles having an overall laden or unladen length exceeding limits given by the signs;

2.16 “Minimum distance limit” - the prohibition applies to vehicles driven closer together than the distance indicated on the sign;

2.17 “Customs” - prohibits vehicles to pass through the customs without checking;

2.19 “No U-turn”;

2.20 “Overtaking prohibited” - the prohibition applies to overtaking of vehicles other than those driven with the speed less than 30 km per hour;

2.21 “End of prohibition of overtaking” - indicates the end of the zonal validity of sign 2.20;

2.22 “Overtaking by goods vehicles prohibited” - the prohibition applies to overtaking by goods vehicles with the permissible maximum mass of more than 3.5 ton of vehicles other than those driven with the speed less than 30 km per hour. It also applies to overtaking by tractors of vehicles other than cycles and animal-drawn vehicles;

2.23 “End of prohibition of overtaking for goods vehicles” - indicates the end of the zonal validity of sign 2.22;

 

2.24

2.24 “Maximum speed limit” - exceeding of the speed indicated (in km/h) on the sign is prohibited;

2.25 “End of maximum speed limit” - indicates the end of the zonal validity of sign 2.24;

 

2.26

2.26 “Use of audible warning devices prohibited” - the use of audible warning devices is prohibited, except to avoid an accident;

 

2.27

2.27 “Standing prohibited” - standing and parking of vehicles are prohibited;

 

2.28

2.28 “Parking prohibited” - parking of vehicles is prohibited;

 

2.29

2.29 “End of all prohibitions” - indicates the end of the zonal validity of signs 2.16, 2.20, 2.22, 2.24 and 2.26-2.28.

 

7.      If signs 2.2-2.9 are placed before the intersections and exits, the directions of their application are defined by signs 6.3.а,б,в. If they are placed after the intersections and exits, they apply just for the given road (carriageway).

8.      Signs 2.2, 2.3, 2.18.а,б, 2.19 and 2.27 do not apply to route vehicles.

9.      Signs 2.18.а,б apply only to the first crossing of the carriageways.

10.    Zonal validity of signs 2.16, 2.20, 2.22, 2.24 and 2.26-2.28 continues from the points of their location up to the first intersection and, in case of roads without intersections, up to the end of built-up areas.

The zonal validity of signs 2.20, 2.22 and 2.24 could be restricted with signs 2.21, 2.23 and 2.25, the zonal validity of signs 2.16, 2.20, 2.22, 2.24 and 2.26 could be restricted with sign 6.2.а used in conjunction and the zonal validity of sign 2.24 could be restricted with the same sign 2.24 with the different speed limitation. Furthermore, the zonal validity of signs 2.27 and 2.28 could be restricted with signs 6.2.б,д,е used in conjunction or with signs 2.27 and 2.28 used in conjunction with sign 6.2.в, the zonal validity of signs 2.27 and 2.28 could be restricted with markings 7.4 and 7.9 used in conjunction (in this case, the zonal validity of the signs is determined by the length of markings) and the zonal validity of signs 2.16, 2.20, 2.22, 2.24 and 2.26-2.28 could be restricted with sign 2.29.

11.    Signs 2.10, 2.27 and 2.28 are applicable to the side of a road where they are installed.
